Bullying has been a hot topic in Mafia Wars for as long as I can remember! Overall Players have got more wise over the years and "go with the flow" much more often. Now that more people understand being "ICED" isnt such a bad thing, I remember back before Cuba was released, when attacking more then 3 times was considered bullying!But Bullying is still a problem, we still hear complaints from far and wide, those first entering into the shark tank, hitting level 450 and suddenly finding level 2000+ stamping on them all day long! As well as players who dont like the PVP part of the game, and every time they are ICED still show up on the Official forums to complain, lastly those players who get Iced, click Heal, and get re-iced by the same player, oh and I almost forgot about those players who click Hitlist over and over, thinking that its doing something good for them, oh if only they knew!
We all know Bullying goes on, and more often then not it gets sorted out, either with one player either giving up, or the bully being bullied into submission... I've even been subjected to Bullying, sure its ranged from someone running attackX on me for a few hours, all the way up to the guy who thought he had the best idea in the world sitting on me after every post I made for 3 months
But when is Enough Enough? That is the question!
At what point should it go from "harmless fun" into something more serious? and at what point should Zynga or Facebook step in and sort the matter out?
Sure I don't expect Facebook or Zynga to step in whenever 2 players get into a fight, nore do I think the fight list needs some sort of padding placed around it for those who fall (or get thrown) out of the ring! but surely there has to be a point when its gotten to extremes and one of these 2 companies need to step in to sort out matters
Why do I bring this up now? Well the answer is a Friend of mine Susan Wells is considering quitting, yep that's right after over 2 years playing Mafia Wars, as well as being the founding member of ๑۞๑ [ஜTHXஜ]๑۞๑ Mafia Wars TIPS TRICKS & INFO she has decided after being bullied for over a year, enough is enough and its time to Quit! What makes it worse, is this isn't a case of just Bulling he is actively extorting players! That's right, asking for loot to stop attacking, and no longer satisfied with just loot, he is also asking for game cards!
So I ask you again When is Enough Enough? Can Facebook or Zynga step in and do something about this? Well we would have to check their Terms of Service to know for sure
Yep they are covered as well, So this brings me back to my first question, When is Enough Enough? and at what point Should Zynga or Facebook step in? They have both been emailed by the Lady in question, and she has provided numerous screen shots, and other information regarding these events, but as of yet no action by either party
Maybe we have to wait till we see a headline in the papers
"Facebook user commits suicide after been bullied playing Zynga game"
Maybe that will wake both companies up to the fact they it doesn't matter if they are Private or Public companies they still have a responsibly to the community that uses their services

ReplyDeleteI will attack anyone who comes on my fightlist. It would take forever for me to wait till Zynga rotates and "approved level" for me to fight onto my fightlist. If people consider this bullying screw em. That being said once I ice you I don't sit there pounding on a specific player either unless they hitlist me more than once. If they list me once fine I don't care but when they Serial hitlist me it's time to play and I will mess with them for awhile. over 7000 stamina so it can make for a long time for someone.

I also quit playing mw on my main profile after several years. not necessarily due to any 'bullying' but simply because getting snuffed within 30 secs of every heal got to be more tiresome than fun. It became particularly annoying when this would occur whilst attempting to take down a boss.. after first attack on it i would be dead b4 i could click the 2nd attack. this was a result, i believe of a combination of things. I used to get emotional until i too discovered the brawler which is a very reasonable tool in my opinion, as who the heck wants to click scroll down select attack, get auto scrolled back up and hafta scroll back down to find another target (so as not to 'bully' or 'offend') repeat til out of stamina. 1,000+ times? nah.. brawler handles it all and one can set it to only att a single target a max of 5 times and move on to the next. most dont tho so i realized my constant snuffage was likely due to simple brawler usage by other players. next I also was informed that once a player reaches level 500 their fight list changes. initially (under lvl 500) only mafia within 5-20ish lvls of your own level appear on it and you on theirs. but upon the sacred 500 lvl you are entered into the ranks of pretty much free for all and are subject to attacks frum lvls 1000-3000+. and these players are most definitely what I call credit card warriors. I had gotten to nearly lvl 900 without spending a dime. In MY opiinion, ANYone who is lvl 1500+ must absolutely be one who is purchasing RP and spending it on stat points and ultimate loot i have never even seen or heard of. i also realized i had allotted way to many stat points to my energy. and so now on my alt fb profile specifically for mw which is about to hit lvl 500 I have rearranged my stat point allotment accordingly and focus mainly on defense. i still anticipate mucho snuffage tho cuz i mean really.. can ANYone defend against a credit card warrior whos ATT stat is 3k or higher? unless they too are purchasing RP? -sighs. so what does my ramble culminate to? well.. its probably highly unlikely to even be possible but.. cant zynga some how either extend the free for all fight listing/sorting to lvl 1k? OR even possibly totally separate those who BUY from those who dont? difficult I am sure because using the slowly accumulated 'free' RP to make a 'purchase' would also likely toss that player into the 'buyer' category? idk.. maybe a whole separate fight listing for those who enter more than 5 game cards or use credit card to purchase more than 50 bux? if they can sort and keep lvl 500's within there own fight listing lvls there MusT be a way to do what I propose? -sighs. sry for ranting. love your pages/posts. thnx for lettn me toss my 2 cents in.

ReplyDeleteI certainly have no complaints when getting iced and robbed like crazy, because that's part of the game. However, being falsely accused of 'slander,' being extorted for items costing real money and being sat on for over a year is abuse. You are right: Zynga and Facebook should take immediate action.

ReplyDeleteMy two cents says that the last name in this game is war, and with that said we have to take our lumps. I think alot of the hits come from attack bots which I dont use, and dont see the need for, but that is just an opinion.I do thing extortion is carrying it a little to far, and this player should at the very least be looked at very strongly by both Facebook, and Zynga.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be nice to see a limit set where you could only be attack so many times a day. Say your only allow to be attack 100 times a day yeah to some a 100 times is a lot to others it's no big deal. After 100 times the limit has been reached until the following day. If you have someone sitting on you fine they can attack 100 times until someone else attacks you 10 times then the other person can only attack 90. This would still allow people to attack each other and not grief or bully one person all day long.

ReplyDeleteI understand the frustration with the fightlist after hitting level 450 it is actually... but the problem is this is a 2 year old concept, and so far nothing zynga has done can correct the problem, if they change the cut off point to entering the shark tank (level 451+) then there arent enough live targets on the fightlist, as fighting is made up form both defence skills as well as loot point i would always recommend that once you get to that point, go master robbing whilst you work on your defence...
as for level, that really doesnt come into it much, sure there are players that are level 400 and strong as hell, but then there are players like myself level 3k+ havnt spent a dime, not the strongest but strong enough to hold my own against the masses on the fightlist
@SerialLeveler88 wait till someone sits on you for 2 years, and tells you to hand over game cards for them to stop... thats where the problem lies, sure get iced, heal and come back, but demanding $ for them to stop thats a bit rich, and currently neither Zynga nor Facebook are doing anything about it

ReplyDeleteHow bout this after a obvious excessive hitting one a single individual the loot they used to have the power to act in this manner is to incrementally be lost by high attack count multiple go ahead set it high so every time the healing occurs the effect becomes more pronounced so winning by healing enables the weaker to eventually fend for himself without being forced into a pocketbook competition not unless big shot wants so keep replacing the stuff he looses and Zynga benefits from sales, weaker eventually brings up his capacity to fend for self, bullie must be proud of showing his display of wasted effort and money like it don't matter cause he got so much fair enough!!!.O ya If big bad bears down due to post my mafia will enjoy the feast. Extortion of any type is a crime in this country and eventually you will meet new friends have very small quarters and food,jail house mystery meat mmmm good not!

ReplyDeleteWhat I see there is extortion - that's over and beyond bullying and completely unacceptable. He uses Facebook as his means of communication, and cites Zynga goods as essentially the ransom. Both companies should get on that.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I giggled over the part about how 3 attacks used to be considered bullying. I remember that too, and I was even one of the people that complained about those "repeated attacks" back then. It's funny how much my stances and opinions change the longer I continue playing the game.

ReplyDeleteHi I'm Christina, I live in Mexico City a month ago was the victim of bullying by the facebook one of my former classmates about their tactics was to have been led to believe that accepted me as a person and then I understood me question my private life I finally writing sexually harassing things to hurt my morale not know whether to laugh at me because my talk bored him on facebook or just because it is a person of low moral and socio likes to play with the girls of course defended telling me if I wanted sex had to earn my trust and my heart to say this more mocked me.
