In December 2009 in the after discussions of a Boycott, something Inside Mafia Wars was talked about for Clans, Since then not much has happened and the game has continued for quite some time...
Until the PAC Meetings in San Francisco, where when we split off into groups with a simple question "what would you improve inside the game" 2 separate groups came up with a almost identical Clan feature inside the game!
So since then Zynga has started working on the feature, running ideas and concepts past the PAC, Finally we have the feature! Sure its still in early beta stages, and sure it has bugs, but a start is something right?
You will find the new addition under My Mafia tab, then Families... But unlike other rollouts, this is Invite only for the time being, you NEED to know someone who can vouch for you, and assure Zynga you are the Godparent of a Family, so no one clan steals another Tags, This was a Suggestion by PAC, as the last thing anyone wants is a dispute over Clan Tags
For the moment there isnt a lot of customization available but I have heard Rumours of Images being allowed, as well as links to Pages and other features being added down the track, As for the cost to start a Family, Well that is still undetermined, In my case I didn't even stop to look, But I except it to be higher then 15RP, as it includes 1 Free Name Change
From outside your family players can see some details about your Family, as well as those players inside the Family
As well as some player details in a easy to read format
Inside your Family there are only a few Options to change currently Your welcome Blurb, as Well as Recruiting, which for the moment seems to Have to be ON to show in the List of Families as well as Allowing players to Join your Family
After Joining a Family you are automatically Tagged with your new Faimly Tag, and its show in Bright RED to distinguish it from your Name
When sending Invites they are sent as Facebook Requests, and show up in both Facebook and in the ZMC
Sure there are still some Bugs, Like it doesnt show your Tag When fighting
And Sending Invites can lead to all sorts of problems
Sure some of the Bugs are Nice, and will let you access the feature before its on your account, I got this screen shot by getting a Invite to join a clan, then getting the error message @ the top, The good news is I could then access the feature, and scroll thru the List of currently Enrolled Clans
Well Ignoring all the bugs, what's the good news? and Why should i Join up My Clan? Well the answers for the moment aren't a lot! Sure there are other things coming out, but today right now, the only thing your Really doing is making sure someone else doesn't grab your Tag before you do! And making sure that your Ready for the new Features as they are rolled out! One of them Being Live Chat INSIDE Mafia Wars!
And for the Moment, If you really want to track down Some of the PAC Members, well we have our Very Own Clan now, Just for those members that arent already Tagged elsewhere... Sure I'm waiting on Bugs to be fixed before other people can Join, but i Expect it to be Ice Centeral, where all those players who Dont Like PAC can go vent a Stamina point or 2!
i am guessing if we dont see a tab that says family under my maifa.. then we arent included in the beta? any idea when it will roll out? as our clan would like to get registered.. i am guessing that the GM should be the one to register a family(clan) so there is no dispute over who owns the tag name. the beta is not so great as the beta players can go choose any tag name .. even taken ones and register them. i am sure this is going to cuase problems
